One West Ham player’s absence from their Premier League win on Monday night went unnoticed such is his lack of game time under David Moyes.
Maxwel Cornet’s face simply has not fit at West Ham under David Moyes.
The £17.5m signing from Burnley has made just two Premier League starts for the Hammers in 19 months.
Cornet was linked with moves to Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest in January.
But he has remained with the Hammers.
Cornet’s face hasn’t fit at West Ham
To rub salt in the wound for Cornet, Moyes has bemoaned his lack of left-sided attacking options. And he admitted he tried but failed to sign a player in that position in January.
Such has been Cornet’s lack of action since joining West Ham, his absence from the squad went largely unnoticed for the 4-2 win over Brentford last time out.
Especially given talisman Lucas Paqueta’s long-awaited return to the Hammers side.
All sorts of conspiracy theories have abound regarding Moyes’ treatment of Cornet.
And that was the case again when it dawned on some fans that the Ivorian was not in Monday’s squad.

Moyes explains Cornet absence and it’s more bad news
That was perhaps understandable given the manager did not list Cornet as a doubt when discussing team news ahead of that win.
But now Moyes has cleared up the mystery surrounding the West Ham outcast’s latest disappearance.
Speaking in his pre-Everton press conference, Moyes revealed Cornet has pulled his hamstring.
And the winger’s miserable time at West Ham will continue as he faces weeks on the sidelines.
“Maxwel Cornet pulled his hamstring a bit in training before the Brentford match,” Moyes said.
“He might be out for a few weeks.”
Given the timescale the boss has put on Cornet’s recovery, his lack of action since joining and links with a move away, it is not unreasonable to suggest he may have played his last game for West Ham.
Moyes has also revealed Aaron Cresswell should return to the West Ham squad for the trip to Everton.
He missed Brentford with a sore calf and Achilles.
