Hammers boss David Moyes has blasted his weak West Ham players as he demands a response against Spurs on Tuesday night.
One word you wouldn’t associate with West Ham under David Moyes over the last four years is ‘weak’.
But some Hammers stars were as weak as the officiating in the dismal 4-3 surrender to Newcastle.
At 3-1 up with 15 minutes left, West Ham looked to be on course for a crucial three points in the race for a European place.
What ensued was one of the most pathetic West Ham collapses for some time – not helped by the officials.
First and foremost, though, the Hammers only have themselves to blame.
Moyes not letting weak Hammers stars off the hook
And the manager is certainly not letting them off the hook.
Moyes has blasted his weak West Ham players and demands a response against Spurs.
After making themselves outsiders for a European spot with a string of dropped points in the last three games, West Ham have to get a result against Champions League chasing Tottenham Hotspur.
The Hammers welcome their Premier League rivals to the London Stadium on Tuesday night.
Moyes has blasted his players for showing a lack of toughness and resilience at Newcastle. And he says they will have to show all that and more to beat Tottenham Hotspur.

‘Toughen up for Spurs’ boss warns West Ham players
“We’ll have to try and do that (beat Spurs) we’ve got to get ourselves back on it and show more resilience and toughness than we did,” a disgusted looking Moyes has told West Ham’s official site.
“We didn’t show enough toughness when it was 3-1 and we needed it.
“And it went 3-2 and we had to show real toughness – and we didn’t show it.”
Make absolutely no mistake, if West Ham defend as they have been in recent weeks against Spurs they will be in for a hiding.
And after the debacle against Arsenal that is the last thing the Hammers need.
Hammers must put things right after meek surrender
There are a number of players – starting with the captain Kurt Zouma – who need to liven themselves up.
Some of the half-hearted tracking back and effort levels against Newcastle were unacceptable.
West Ham may be gutted to lose but the stats suggest they didn’t deserve to win either.
Moyes rarely, if ever, questions his players over their toughness and resilience.
The fact he has speaks volumes.
Now the players simply have to step up and put things right when Tottenham come to east London.
