West Ham’s new majority owner Daniel Kretinsky has vowed to fund Nuno Espirito Santo’s transfer war chest to ensure the club returns to the Premier League.

It is all change at West Ham following the resignations of Karren Brady and David Sullivan and what fans hope will be a positive new era under Daniel Kretinsky.

The Hammers released a statement confirming Kretinsky has purchased an additional 16 per cent of the club from the Gold family’s 25 per cent stake.

Kretinsky bought 27 per cent of West Ham for around £150m in November 2021, valuing each share at £5.6m.

By taking his shareholding up to 43 per cent, Kretinsky will inject £90m into the club – the exact amount the Hammers needed to raise to satisfy financial rules by the end of June.

With that major issue resolved, Kretinsky has also pledged to try and keep as many as West Ham’s top players as possible in order to get the club back in the Premier League.

There will inevitably be some departures with Man United closing on an £80m deal for Mateus Fernandes.

The likes of Crysencio Summerville, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo will be sold too.

It means Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad will need bolstering for a gruelling 46-game campaign in one of the world’s most fiercely competitive leagues.

The good news is that the Czech billionaire has vowed to fund Nuno’s transfer war chest for West Ham’s push to bounce straight back to the Premier League.

Kretinsky has jaw-dropping plans for West Ham which include owning the London Stadium outright.

Hammers fans will hope that is in order to make fundamental structural changes to the bowl-shaped arena to finally make it fit for football, let alone West Ham United who – for 112 years – played in a stadium where opposition players could feel the breath of supporters on the back of their necks.

It comes amidst a week of positive news for the club with Paco Jemez speaking out on his West Ham future.

The elephant in the room remains Sullivan who has admitted he is undecided over selling his 38.8 per cent Hammers stake.

The summer transfer window officially opens in England on Monday, June 15th and closes on Tuesday September 1st at 11pm.

The date West Ham will find out their fixtures for the 2026-27 season has been revealed.
