West Ham United signed Crysencio Summerville from Leeds United in the summer of 2024.

However, despite his obvious talent, the West Ham fans had to wait 18 months before seeing what Summerville is really capable of.

The 24-year-old’s blistering pace and impressive dribbling skills have provided Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side with a really potent threat inside the final third over the past four weeks or so.

If Paqueta left for £35m, how much is Summerville worth right now? 🤑

Roma made an offer in January…

Summerville has now scored for West Ham in four games in a row, becoming only the fourth player since 1993 to do so.

It was a huge concern for the Hammers fans when Summerville was heavily linked with a West Ham exit in January.

The Dutchman obviously remained with the Hammers in the end, and that will be crucial to the east London outfit’s hopes of avoiding relegation.

Crysencio Summerville’s potentially ‘big surprise’

Where would the Hammers be right now without Summerville? He has single-handedly given West Ham a chance of avoiding relegation down to the Championship.

Now, the West Ham ace’s scintillating recent form appears to have brought him to the attention of the Netherlands national team.

With the World Cup just around the corner, the former Leeds man is being tipped for a surprise call-up to Ronald Koeman’s squad for the tournament.

Football journalist Suleyman Öztürk of Voetbal International has explained why Summerville could join the Dutch squad out in America and Canada this summer, as quoted via Soccer News.

“He’s getting such a high level of performance now… I think he’s playing so well at West Ham right now,” he said.

“He’s specifically a Noa Lang type, a dribbler who can create something. With four goals and two assists in his last five games, Summerville is in top form at West Ham.

“I think that kid has the ambition to join the Dutch national team. I think he’s in form at just the right time, which means he has a chance of going to the World Cup.

He could be the big surprise in the squad that you wouldn’t have expected six months ago.

Summerville certainly deserves a call-up to the Holland squad, but another twist seemingly could lie in wait for the West Ham winger…

Crysencio Summerville in the midst of a tug of war

Summerville’s fine recent form may well be attracting Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman.

However, the former Everton and Southampton manager may not have things all his own way.

That’s because Henk ten Cate is trying to convince Summerville to pledge his allegiance to Suriname.

The former Barcelona and Ajax coach is currently in charge of Suriname and recently urged the uncapped Summerville to join him.

“We’re working hard on [convincing Summerville to represent Suriname], Ten Cate said.

“It’s a huge boost in quality if we succeed, and it increases our chances enormously. [These three] play at the highest level [Summerville, Joel Piroe and Danilho Doekhi], in the better leagues in Europe. That will give the team such a huge boost.

“Curacao [under ex-Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat] qualified through sheer willpower and teamwork, setting a good example. We should be able to do the same.”

So if Summerville doesn’t receive a call-up to the Netherlands squad for the 2026 World Cup, perhaps his international future will lie with Suriname.
