Nuno Espirito Santo has not always convinced during his time at West Ham United – but he has now been backed by one of the club’s leading stars in the form of Crysencio Summerville.
While the Nuno era at West Ham didn’t get off to a flying start, it feels like things are on the up right now.
Though his side certainly aren’t out of the woods yet when it comes to the relegation battle, the former Wolves and Nottingham Forest coach has managed to turn things around.
Be honest – give us your initial grading and your current one 😂
For context, I was a C and now I am an A
Yielding a monumental improvement out of Summerville has been crucial to that, and the player appears to be thankful for it.
Indeed, speaking to Algemeen Dagblad, the winger said: “Manager Nuno Espirito Santo is a top manager; he really brings something out in me. And not just in me. I have complete confidence that we will succeed.”

Summerville’s record under Nuno
The former Leeds forward is currently injured, and the Irons coach will desperately need him to return as quickly as possible.
Interestingly, despite the fact he has only ever made 24 appearances under the Portuguese coach, Summerville has only ever scored more goals while working with Daniel Farke in his career.
Good idea or is all hope for an atmosphere lost anyway?
It’s obvious that Nuno is getting the very best out of Summerville, something the club desperately needed him to do after the forward struggled to settle initially after joining from Leeds.
Nuno has never been relegated as a manager
Over the course of a managerial career that started in 2012, Nuno has never been relegated.
That is a proud record, albeit some of his jobs have come at clubs who have little chance of being relegated anyway.
Still, he did famously save Nottingham Forest from the drop in the 2023-24 season and is now working his magic here in east London.
Summerville does have reason to believe the Hammers chief will be able to find a way out of this.
