Carlton Cole picks between James Collins and Winston Reid as his most underrated West Ham teammate

Carlton Cole recently named his most underrated teammate during his West Ham career.

The forward spent nine years at Upton Park after signing from Chelsea before the 2006/07 season.

He scored 67 goals for the Hammers in all competitions, and some will consider him underrated.

However, Cole picked between central defenders James Collins and Winston Reid for that accolade.

Carlton Cole rates James Collins and Winston Reid highly

Cole was unsure whether to pick Collins or Reid as his most underrated West Ham teammate. 

They had remarkably similar careers at the Hammers, with Collins making 214 appearances and Reid 222.

The defensive duo also scored nine and 10 goals, respectively, throughout their West Ham careers.

Cole ultimately sided with Collins but praised both players in his response.

“Tough one. I might have to go with James Collins or Winston Reid,” he said on the Dressing Room Podcast.

“I thought Winston Reid was a really good player. So it’s a toss-up between them. James Collins.”

Meanwhile, Joe Cole named Carlton, whom he played with at Chelsea and West Ham, as his most underrated teammate.

“The most underrated player I’ve ever played with in my career is Carlton Cole,” was Joe’s tongue-in-cheek response. “He held the ball up, left foot, right foot, scored goals, skills…”
