Callum Wilson has expressed his disappointment after what happened to West Ham in the Premier League recently.

The 33-year-old has performed better than many thought he would after moving to the London Stadium on a free transfer in the summer.

Graham Potter failed to get the best out of him, but Nuno Espirito Santo has been playing to Wilson’s strengths at West Ham.

Who do YOU think is the Hammers' best-ever bargain signing?

Callum Wilson issues honest reaction to Brighton draw

Wilson set up Jarrod Bowen for the Hammers’ opener against Brighton, but the Seagulls scored a late equaliser and the game ended 1-1.

Due to that result, West Ham find themselves in the bottom three and relegation is still very much on the cards if things do not improve.

They face Aston Villa and Manchester City next, both games where they are the underdogs, but after that, have a favourable fixture list.

West Ham seem to have a huge mentality problem. How can Nuno deal with it?

Speaking to the club’s official website about the Brighton game, Wilson said that he was disappointed by the fact that his side did not see out the result.

He was also not pleased by the fact that they did not do better in front of goal.

The 33-year-old made an immediate impact after coming off the bench, which does explain his frustration.

He said: “I’m disappointed overall. We had chances and I just feel that going in front and then conceding so late on was disappointing. They’re the games that we need to see out at the end there.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t get a second through myself or through other people, but that’s football at the end of the day. If you’ve come away from home and you’re one-nil up that late on, you’re expecting to probably see the game out.

“But we move on and work hard now into the next game.”

Nuno needs to fix West Ham’s mentality problem

It’s evident that the Hammers have a mentality problem and Nuno Espirito Santo needs to address it soon.

Conceding so many goals is never ideal when your side is in the bottom three.

With the January transfer window just around the corner, it is imperative that the Portuguese is backed and a new defender is brought in.

While signing a striker is just as important, it should not come at the cost of not bringing in a new centre-back.
