Heading into the final two games of the season, West Ham and Tottenham are locked in a relegation shootout.

As it stands, Spurs have the advantage, but all of that could change if West Ham beat Newcastle on Sunday and their bitter rivals lose to Chelsea on Tuesday night.
That particular set of results – which would hardly be the biggest shocks in the world – would see the Irons overtake Spurs in the Premier League table.
Wilson has been speaking to West Ham’s official website about the relegation battle.

Referring to Tottenham’s draw with Leeds on Monday he said: “Ultimately Tottenham’s result still leaves things quite open, so we have to go to Newcastle and try and get a result there.
“All you can do is take care of your own house and keep that in order, basically. If we get a result it puts pressure on Tottenham and then you get another result [against Leeds] and see where you end up.”

Indeed, West Ham fans are starting to dream of Premier League survival after Tottenham drew with Leeds.
Clearly, Spurs are favourites to stay up at this stage and the point they picked up against Leeds actually put them further ahead of West Ham than they were when the 36th round of Premier League fixtures began.
Yet, it did still feel like a boost to a certain extent. West Ham looked despondent after losing to Arsenal on Sunday, with the prospect of Spurs going four points clear with two games to play weighing heavy on the mind.
The fact that the Irons could move ahead of their rivals with only one game left, then, is undoubtedly significant.
None of this will matter if West Ham fail to show up against Newcastle, of course.
Their recent away performances have simply not been good enough and a repeat of the timid outings fans had to watch at Crystal Palace and Brentford will not be tolerated.
There are genuine reasons to believe that West Ham can at least pick up three points on Sunday. That is not to suggest that they do not desperately need to improve, however.
