Graham Potter has been handed some very timely good news regarding one West Ham United player.

It has already been well-documented that Graham Potter needs to strengthen his squad at West Ham.

Potter has said as much himself.

The Hammers head coach needs to bring a proven striker and a powerful central midfielder to the London Stadium as a matter of urgency.

The West Ham squad is one of the weakest in the Premier League, I don’t think that’s even a controversial thing to say.

We are so thin on the ground in numerous departments.

The problem for Potter is that West Ham don’t have unlimited funds to spend.

However, news from abroad has just suggested that the Hammers could be about to receive a really timely cash injection.

Potter obviously needs to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium this month.

However, the summer transfer window will be when we see his plans really come to fruition.

And Nayef Aguerd may well lend a helping hand to Potter’s cause.

Estadio Deportivo claim that Aguerd’s value has increased exponentially since joining Sociedad on loan in the summer of 2024.

That’s obviously great news for the Hammers, because we did not include a purchase option in the deal.

So due to the 28-year-old’s fine form in Spain, West Ham should be able to secure a decent fee for him at the end of this season.

And that will be a huge boost to Graham Potter’s summer transfer kitty.

It was actually recently claimed that Aguerd could perform a stunning U-turn and return to West Ham after his loan spell with Sociedad comes to an end.

I just can’t see that happening though.

The Morocco international proved to be a terrible signing for the Hammers during his first two years at the London Stadium.

His positional awareness and concentration levels were off the scale bad.

Perhaps he’s just more suited to La Liga than he is the Premier League.

I’m hoping that he continues his fine form with Real Sociedad, and West Ham head coach Graham Potter undoubtedly will be as well.
