A big Carlo Ancelotti claim has emerged in Spain but it isn’t West Ham despite his past comments about managing the Hammers.

West Ham could be looking for a new manager in the summer and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti a new job.

Put two and two together and what do you get?

Well in the case of some spinning the West Ham rumour mill on social media and fan forums the answer seems to be five.

There have been claims that West Ham technical director Tim Steidten has already started identifying potential replacements for David Moyes – who is out of contract this summer as things stand.

Big Ancelotti claim emerges in Spain

A top West Ham insider told Hammers News recently that no decision has been made on Moyes’ future one way or the other.

And speculation in Brazil and Spain has claimed highly decorated manager Ancelotti is set to take over Brazil in the summer when his own contract expires.

There was a twist overnight, though.

A big Ancelotti claim has emerged in Spain but it isn’t West Ham despite his past comments about managing the Hammers.

Ancelotti has been linked with West Ham on several occasions in the past. When West Ham were replacing both Manuel Pellegrini and Slaven Bilic, the serial winner’s name was in the frame – as we reported on HN at the time.

And according to the man himself he may not have been against the idea.

‘I would coach West Ham’ – Ancelotti in 2011

When managing Chelsea back in 2011, Ancelotti told the now defunct News of the World he would happily manage West Ham to stay in English football despite the fact the club had just been relegated.

“I would coach West Ham – why not,” Ancelotti said at the time.

“It’s a challenge to manage a team outside of the top four and even in the Championship.

“The atmosphere at West Ham is amazing. I have respect for every team and the job of my colleagues. It is the same and it doesn’t matter if you can manage a top team or a smaller team. If a club said to me, ‘You can manage this club without money’, I’d have to decide whether to accept or not. Money is not a motivation. The money has never been a motivation for me.”

So when it was claimed on Spanish radio station Cadena COPE that Ancelotti has received interest from a Premier League club that was not his former sides Chelsea or Everton nor Man City, it started tongues wagging in some West Ham circles.

Ancelotti to Hammers rumour swiftly put to bed

With Arsenal, Aston Villa, Spurs, Liverpool, Newcastle and Brighton also in no need of a new manager, it is understandable why many felt that club could be the Hammers given Moyes’ uncertain future.

But in actual fact it has now been revealed it is not West Ham but Manchester United who are the club in question.

The reporter making the claim, Juanma Castano, was persistently asked to reveal the identity of the club.

And he eventually confirmed later in the conversation that the club is indeed Man United.

So that particular seed of a West Ham rumour can be swiftly put to bed.
