Niclas Fullkrug arrived at West Ham earlier this month from Borussia Dortmund in a £22.5 million deal.
There were plenty of West Ham fans who questioned the club’s move to sign Niclas Fullkrug, when our interest in him first came to light.
I was one of those fans, but now I’m fully on board with the idea of the German leading the line for us.
The 31-year-old has already put concerns about his age to bed with his recent comments suggesting that he is in the best shape of his life.
And he was certainly in fine form for Dortmund last season, proving to be a real handful for opposing defenders in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
He racked up 15 goals and 10 assists in 43 appearances in all competitions for the German giants.
I think he’ll prove to be a fine addition for the Hammers, but he has already come out with a few surprising comments.
The target man type striker shocked the West Ham fans a couple of days ago by suggesting that he likes playing in the number 10 role at times.
And now he has made yet another big claim, this time regarding one of his teammates at the London Stadium.
Niclas Fullkrug makes big claim about West Ham teammate
The German is clearly loving life already at the London Stadium.
Aside from his penalty miss in the shoot-out against Celta Vigo yesterday, everything is looking good for Fullkrug right now.

Lopetegui clearly has a system in mind to help get the best out of the 31-year-old over the next few years.
And one player in particular might just enable Fullkrug to reach his full potential at the London Stadium.
The Germany international spoke to WHUFC.com, and offered high praise for his teammate James Ward-Prowse.
“I think one of my biggest qualities is scoring goals, and the fact I am able to score with my left foot, right foot, and also my aerial ability. I hope for a lot of crosses. I think we have a lot of good players on the pitch. We have Emerson, who runs up and down the line all the time, and James [Ward-Prowse], who has the best set pieces in the world. I’m very excited for the season ahead.“
In fairness, Ward-Prowse is exceptionally gifted from set-pieces, and has racked up plenty of assists from them for the Hammers.
However, he is still yet to score a goal from a free-kick for us, although he did bang one in direct from a corner away at Wolves last season!
Despite Ward-Prowse’s obvious technical ability, Niclas Fullkrug naming his West Ham teammate as the best set-piece taker in world football really is a bold suggestion.
The likes of Lionel Messi, Kevin De Bruyne, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and many more will all surely question the German’s claim.
That said, Ward-Prowse’s record is a tasty one. He needs to score just one more free-kick to break David Beckham’s Premier League record.
Let’s hope he manages to do that this season, and provides plenty of assists for Fullkrug along the way.
