Adrian Durham was amongst a whole host of football pundits to weigh in on the decision to send off Fabian Balbuena during West Ham United’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea yesterday.

The 29-year-old was given his marching orders late on by the hapless Chris Kavanagh.
The Hammers were battling to get back into the game against the Blues.
Fabian Balbuena red card shocker
The red card handed to the West Ham ace late on completely killed our momentum, however.
The decision to send the Hammers defender packing was quite frankly ludicrous. It was clearly made by someone who has never played the game and has no idea or understanding of the intricate nature of our sport.
The standard of refereeing in the English game really is embarrassing. The substandard referees are a stain on our game. VAR can’t escape Scot-Free here, however.

Michael Oliver – the referee operating the VAR, obviously informed Chris Kavanagh that something had happened.
How that is clear and obvious I don’t know. These horrendous decisions, week in week out, are disgustingly inconstant and seem to always favour the so-called bigger clubs.
The decision will surely get overturned by the Premier League. Surely it will won’t it? Won’t it??? We won’t be holding our breath.

He’s right. VAR does have to go.
But so do 90 per cent of the referees currently officiating in the Premier League.
