Ex-West Ham United man Felipe Anderson is reportedly attracting attention from clubs in Saudi Arabia this summer.

Saudi Pro League sides Al Shabab and Al Nassr are both said to be lining up moves to sign Felipe Anderson from Lazio this summer (National News).

The 30-year-old winger has actually been in fine form for Lazio since returning to Italy from the Hammers, with 19 goals and 17 assists to his name over the last two seasons. (Transfermarkt).

There are plenty of West Ham fans who think selling Anderson was a big mistake, and in fairness I feel like we let him go far too cheaply.

However, it now seems like David Sullivan may have pulled off a masterstroke…

West Ham sold the Brazilian to Lazio in the summer of 2021 for just €3 million (£2.6 million) but we did include a 50% sell-on clause in the deal according to Sky Sports.

At the time, £2.6 million seemed like absolute peanuts.

And Anderson’s fine form for Lazio has done nothing to dispel the notion that the Hammers had an absolute shocker by selling him for such a small fee.

However, should the Brazilian move out to Saudi, Sullivan will deserve huge credit.

We know how much money the teams in the Saudi Pro League have at their disposal, so the 30-year-old certainly won’t be going over there on the cheap.

He’s still under contract with Lazio until the summer of 2024, so even if he goes for around £10 million, the Hammers will pocket a tidy £5 million sum.

Felipe Anderson moving to the Saudi Pro League would make West Ham’s decision to sell him two years ago look not so bad after all.
