Jack Grealish tipped to ‘bizarrely’ join West Ham from Manchester City

Manchester City star Jack Grealish is being tipped for a sensational move to West Ham United in the summer.

Things haven’t quite gone to plan for Jack Grealish since his move to Manchester City nearly four years ago.

So could he really resurrect his career under West Ham head coach Graham Potter at the London Stadium?

Potter is said to be planning a big squad revamp at West Ham, but Grealish being part of his revolution in East London is a real long shot right?

The 29-year-old has been coached to death by Pep Guardiola during his time with Man City.

He would say that he’s won the treble, and that is hard to argue against for obvious reasons.

However, Grealish has become a robotic player. Gone are the days of the former Aston Villa man lighting up games with moments of off-the-cuff brilliance.

When the Englishman burst onto the scene with Aston Villa more than a decade ago it was clear to see that he was mercurial talent who would reach the very highest level of the game.

Grealish was capable of winning games on his own with his incredible skill, courage and desire to try to make things happen.

Unfortunately he is now nothing more than simply a functioning left winger, and he does a job that 99% of attackers in the Premier League could do.

He has admitted on numerous occasions that his style of play has changed since moving to The Etihad from Villa.

And this summer could well be the time for a change for Jack.

The England international forward could be set for an exit from The Etihad this summer.

Grealish has fallen even further down the pecking order at Man City since the arrival of Omar Marmoush in January.

And the time could be right for him to leave the Premier League champions in the summer.

Well, that’s what Stan Collymmore thinks anyway.

Collymore spoke to Goal and suggested that West Ham may well be the perfect move for Grealish:

“Jack might end up going somewhere like Saudi because I’m struggling to see a top four, five or six team that would take him. The traditional top four or five, wages and fee would be a problem.

“If you are an aspiring club, Newcastle could go and buy anybody that’s young and hungry and fresh, likewise Villa. If you are one of the clubs like Bournemouth and Brighton, you probably couldn’t afford him. You could probably see him at a club like West Ham, bizarrely, because they have got the money and London as clout.

“I’m absolutely sure that Unai Emery won’t be going anywhere near Jack Grealish. Great emotional story, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

I would be all for the 29-year-old joining West Ham.

As long as Potter gave him full license to roam and create, we could see the same Grealish who tore it up with Villa all those years ago.

However, there are a couple of problems that will definitely prevent West Ham from signing the Manchester City star, in my opinion.

Jack Grealish to West Ham a no-go

Firstly, he earns £300k-a-week at The Etihad – a figure the Hammers could not even get close to matching.

And secondly, after paying £100 million to sign Grealish in the summer of 2021, Man City will surely not be willing to sell him on the cheap.

In the summer, he will still have two more years remaining on his deal with Manchester City after all.

Jack Grealish is a fantastic player, and he would obviously be a sensational signing for West Ham.

However, the reality is that it won’t be happening.

I can see Grealish moving out to a massive club abroad – a team like AC Milan with an English contingent already.

Perhaps even a transfer out to Saudi could be on the cards for Jack. One thing I’m certain of though is that Grealish won’t be moving to West Ham.
