West Ham United have not won an FA Cup penalty shoot out in 12 years

The last time West Ham triumphed via spot-kicks, they beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Carabao Cup back in October 2021.

Mark Noble, Jarrod Bowen, Craig Dawson, Aaron Cresswell and Said Benrahma scored the five penalties that day at the London Stadium. Phil Foden was the unfortunate party that day as he missed the target from 12 yards.

Should West Ham v QPR go all the way, this would be the first time the Hammers have faced the proverbial ‘lottery’ in a competitive match since losing 10-9 to Blackburn Rovers three-and-a-half years ago.

They have not won an FA Cup penalty shout-out, meanwhile, since beating Everton in 2015.

Of the current players in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, captain Bowen is unsurprisingly one of the most reliable with a 70 per cent conversion rate during spells at West Ham and Hull City.

Goalscorer Summerville has converted 75 per cent of his career spot-kicks. Castellanos has an 83 per cent conversion rate from the spot, while Pablo is yet to miss any of the three he has taken in normal time.

Goalkeeper Mads Hermansen, meanwhile, famously denied Cole Palmer when Leicester took on Chelsea. That is one of only three he has saved, though, from 15 faced.
