As it transpired, however, West Ham deserved to win the game by two or three goals.

There were so many standout performers for the Hammers.
Said Benrahma was magnificent if not a little wasteful with his final ball. Angelo Ogbonna and Fabian Balbuena defended resolutely whilst Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek put in terrier-like displays in the middle of the park.
