The 26-year-old midfielder joined the Hammers initially on loan in January 2020.

That loan deal was made permanent in July last year for around £15 million (Daily Mail).

The Czech Republic international has been an outstanding addition for West Ham.

The 6ft 4in workaholic has run more than anyone else in the Premier League this season by quite some distance. He has also won the most aerial duels and individual duels in the top flight.

Soucek has scored 10 goals in 37 Premier League games too. That’s an outstanding return for a midfielder.

Tomas Soucek praised to the hilt by Alan Shearer

The former Slavia Prague ace has totally transformed us as a team over the past 16 months or so.

His winning mentality, desire and commitment really has been incredible to witness this season.

Shearer absolutely raved about big Tomas, when speaking on Match of the Day last night (May 19th, 11:28):

“Terrific. What a signing he has been. 10 league goals. He can protect, he can be a threat. What a season West Ham have had and the job David Moyes has done.”

Soucek has actually gone off the boil slightly in recent weeks. He has still been vital to David Moyes’s side, however, considering how much running he does and his defensive contribution from set-pieces.

£15 million for the Czech Republic international has proven to be an absolute steal for West Ham.

Let’s hope that Moyes manages to find similar value in the transfer market this summer.
