Axel Disasi was one of West Ham’s top performers once again in their 2-1 victory over Everton on Saturday.

Although he did not keep a clean sheet, thanks to Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s strike, the Frenchman was excellent at the back.

He and Dinos Mavropanos’ formidable partnership limited David Moyes’ Everton to just two shots on target all game.

Premier League legend Martin Keown has since complimented Disasi while highlighting an under-the-radar moment.

Martin Keown praises Axel Disasi after West Ham victory over Everton

A fellow central defender in his playing days, Keown was mightily impressed by Disasi’s performance against Everton.

Keown highlighted a telling moment where Disasi held off Everton striker Thierno Barry and shepherded the ball out of play.

This individual battle, which happened early in the first half, set the tone for Disasi’s dominant display throughout the game.

Keown said on Match of the Day: “Mavropanos has done well, but Disasi, who was in that bomb squad at Chelsea, this is a West Ham fan on the pitch. This is early on; he’s saying to Barry, ‘I’m in charge here…'”

Where would West Ham be NOW if Disasi had joined last summer? 🤔

Maybe survival would have been achieved already…

est Ham United's Konstantinos Mavropanos celebrates scoring his side's fourth goal with Axel Disasi during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Wolverhampton Wanderers at London Stadium on April 10, 2026 in London, United Kingdom.

The ex-Arsenal defender also enjoyed Disasi’s gesticulations towards the crowd after winning another duel against Barry.

“Look at this authority [from Disasi]. The way he responds afterwards, ‘Give me more of this.’ Some of the defending, as well as from Soucek, Diouf, and Disasi… they are giving everything on that pitch, I love it, I love watching it.”

While Keown may not regularly watch West Ham games, supporters will know that this was not unusual for Disasi.

The Chelsea loanee has been consistently superb since he arrived in January and could even be considered the club’s player of the year.
