Crysencio Summerville played through the pain during West Ham United’s FA Cup fifth-round victory over Brentford, with Ally McCoist predicting that the winger suffered a ‘knock’ rather than a ‘strain’.
The Hammers’ entire season flashed before their eyes as the in-form winger sank to the pitch just outside the home side penalty area, his shirt over his face and both Jarrod Bowen and Taty Castellanos visibly concerned.
Who was West Ham’s BEST PLAYER against Brentford?! 🤔
Summerville started on the bench but was introduced at the break on a night when West Ham United edged a tight London derby on penalties.
Crysencio Summerville did not take one of the five spot kicks – a quarter-final clash with former employers Leeds awaits – but Rangers icon McCoist is hopeful that the Dutchman is not facing a stint on the sidelines.
Ally McCoist thinks Crysencio Summerville has avoided a ‘strain’ at West Ham United

“I’m watching him, he’s not moving too well. But it has to be a knock. With a strain, you’re coming off straight away,” McCoist told TNT Sports.
“I’d be more concerned about the damage he’s doing staying on the pitch. I know it’s an important game here, but I’m thinking about the importance of the season!”
After hobbling off, Summerville returned to the field of play and appeared to shake off the discomfort. He certainly moved a lot quicker for a chance he created for Castellanos, driving in off the left-hand flank with trademark zip and acceleration.
Ahead of a trip to Manchester City on Saturday, Nuno Espirito Santo will be praying that there is no lasting damage to his star man.
