Graham Potter has named his West Ham starting XI for the Premier League clash with Aston Villa this afternoon.
The Hammers head coach has had to get creative with his West Ham starting XI‘s since taking over at the London Stadium.
West Ham have endured a terribly difficult start to the 2024/25 season, and Graham Potter has a seriously tough task on his hands if he is to turn things around.
I’m convinced that Potter will turn things around, but real positive change will not happen overnight, that’s for sure.
What we all need to see it real strides forward with regards to our playing style.
Just little patterns of play in pockets with some real direction and intent would be nice to see.
Hopefully there will be big improvements against Aston Villa this afternoon.
West Ham starting XI vs Aston Villa confirmed
The Hammers players will have to be on top form today to get a result at Villa Park.
The Villans are a well-oiled machine under Unai Emery, and we have some key players missing.

Here’s how Potter has lined up for the Villa game, as confirmed by the club’s official X account:
Alphonse Areola, Vladimir Coufal, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Kilman, Aaron Cresswell, Emerson Palmieri, Edson Alvarez, Tomas Soucek, Carlos Soler, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus
That’s about as good as we could have hopes for today.
Areola, Coufal and Soler come into the side in place of Lukasz Fabianski, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Guido Rodriguez.
Now it’s down to the players to go out there and perform.
We all know it won’t be easy to get a result against Villa, but the players proved during the first 60 minutes of our FA Cup clash at Villa Park that we can compete with them.
Now they have to put in that kind of performance for the entirety of the match.
The West Ham starting XI selected by Graham Potter has more than enough about it to cause Aston Villa problems this afternoon.
I’m hoping we can get a result today, but I think we’ll just come up short.
