The Hammers did fight their way back into the contest but Chelsea took the lead just before half-time.
Timo Werner tucked home neatly from a Ben Chilwell cut-back.
It was a terrible time to concede for West Ham.
David Moyes’s men came out in the second-half with renewed vigour and dominated the game, it has to be said.

Werner missed an absolute sitter but aside from that, the home side were in the driving seat.

Chelsea are one of the very best teams in Europe. So there is no shame in losing to the Blues.
What is frustrating, however, is the fact that David Moyes keeps setting up against these big teams far too defensively.
