Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa brought the 20-year-old stopper to Elland Road initially on loan from FC Lorient in the summer of 2019.

Leeds then made the deal a permanent on a year later for an undisclosed fee.

Illan Meslier has really impressed for the west Yorkshire outfit. He has conceded 27 goals in 23 games for Leeds, keeping 11 clean sheets in the process (Transfermarkt).

The Frenchman was once again at his best for the Whites against West Ham last night.

If it wasn’t for him, the east London outfit could have easily won by two or three goals.

And Hammers boss David Moyes raved about the Leeds ace, as quoted by Football.London:

“I thought their goalkeeper was outstanding with some of his saves and he kept them in the game.”

Illan Meslier has proven to be a great addition for Leeds. For such a young man, he is already looking like a proven and established Premier League stopper.

Goalkeepers don’t usually hit their prime until they reach 30. So there is no telling just how good the Leeds ace will go on to become.

Whites fans should think themselves very lucky to have the young Frenchman. The 20-year-old might just be one of the best goalkeepers in the world in the very near future.
