David Moyes has shared what he told Martin Atkinson after West Ham United’s defeat to Manchester United last night, as quoted by Football.London.

The Hammers didn’t deserve anything from the game against Man United in all fairness.

Moyes set up his team far too defensively at Old Trafford.

We didn’t lay a glove on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side inside the first 60 minutes.

West Ham did improve after the introduction of Said Benrahma and Manuel Lanzini. But it was too little too late as we were already a goal down by that point.

Hopefully the West Ham manager learns from his mistakes.

David Moyes critical of referee Martin Atkinson

The Hammers haven’t had much luck with officials this season.

And Moyes criticised Atkinson for failing to give his team decisions at key parts of the game.

The Scot responded when asked what he complained to the official about after the match, as quoted by Football.London:

“No, the referee is a really good referee Martin Atkinson I think he is one of the best referees there is I just felt that there were a couple of free-kicks that could easily have gone the other way and there was a bit of I would not say time-wasting but I think we were a bit like ten or fifteen seconds over the allotted time and we weren’t allowed to take the corner kick in the last minute which was a bit hard to take.”

If we’re being honest, West Ham can’t really have any complaints about Atkinson.

We lost the game solely because of Moyes’s negative tactics, it’s a simple as that.

It’s Arsenal up next at the London Stadium this weekend. Nothing less than three points will do.

Hopefully Moyes approaches the game against the Gunners with a little more ambition that he did against Man United yesterday.
