David Moyes refused to discuss referee Felix Zwayer after his West Ham red card decision against Lyon but lauded his side’s resilience.
The 10-men of West Ham battled to a brave 1-1 draw at home against a Lyon side employing the dark arts blighting European football.
Aaron Cresswell was ludicrously sent off just before half-time by Zwayer who barely gave West Ham a decision all game long.

And to rub salt in the wound the German ref pandered to every Lyon dive and moan.
Despite Cresswell’s laughable dismissal, it was West Ham who took the lead when Jarrod Bowen pounced to fire home in the box after some excellent play from man of the match Pablo Fornals.
Typically substitute Tete, the Brazilian FIFA loophole signing who Moyes felt should not be allowed to play in the competition, made the telling contribution for Lyon.

The lively winger beat Ben Johnson and fired the ball across the box with Spurs reject Tanguy NDombele tapping home when West Ham failed to clear their lines.
With the tie at 1-1 Lyon ahead of the return leg in France next week, Lyon will be favourites.
But 11 against 11 West Ham are more than a match for the Ligue 1 also-rans and will be boosted by the return of Manuel Lanzini who was sorely missed at the London Stadium.

David Moyes refuses to discuss referee after West Ham red card against Lyon and lauds resilience
Moyes was booked by the ref as he berated him over the incident.
But in his press conference after the game Moyes refused to discuss the official.
Moyes stayed tight lipped on the referee over the West Ham red card against Lyon but lauded West Ham’s resilience in the face of adversity (Football.London).
“Not a good performance,” Moyes said about West Ham’s display (Football.London).

“Poor but good resilience down to 10 men. The only thing I’m going to say is the tackle in the lead up to it (the red) on Jarrod was a foul so I expect that to be bartered into it. That’s the disappointment for me.
“I’m certainly not going to talk about the referee.
“I’m not discussing the red card. If they say it wasn’t a free kick (on Bowen) that’s OK. It was in the same sequence. I’d have expected VAR to check that.”
