David Moyes had a stinker starting Jarrod Bowen for West Ham vs Manchester United, he wasn't at the races at all

Jarrod Bowen was well off the pace for West Ham against Manchester United yesterday, and David Moyes really shouldn’t have started him.

The 25-year-old was a doubt leading up to the clash with Manchester United after suffering an ankle injury last week.

Bowen started the game at Old Trafford though, much to the delight of the West Ham fans at the time.

David Moyes recently spoke to reporters about how he thinks Bowen is getting close to rediscovering his very best form.

Unfortunately, he was really poor yesterday, and it was clear to see that he wasn’t in tip-top condition. In fact, he hasn’t been at his best all season, neither technically or physically.

Some may say that Moyes didn’t have any other option other than to start Bowen against Man United yesterday, with Lucas Paqueta and Maxwel Cornet both out.

Michail Antonio could have played on the right wing though, and after Bowen’s display at Old Trafford, I think that would have been by far the better option…

The 25-year-old was totally ineffective for the Hammers against Man United.

He really wasn’t at the races at all was he?

Bowen had only 42 touches, one shot on goal and registered zero key passes or dribbles (Who Scored).

That is not the kind of performance we needed from one of our key attacking players at Old Trafford.

In fairness to Bowen, he shouldn’t have started, he clearly wasn’t 100% fit and that is on David Moyes.

Bowen, who earns £80k-a-week at the London Stadium (Salary Sport), needs to get back to his very best, if West Ham are to enjoy a successful 2022/23 season.

His poor form so far this term may well have cost him his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup out in Qatar.

More importantly though, Jarrod Bowen needs to start performing for West Ham.

He recorded sensational numbers last season, and he’s nowhere near them this term.

Hopefully Bowen rediscovers his best stuff, but he really shouldn’t have played against Manchester United yesterday.
