Crysencio Summerville was keen to highlight Jarrod Bowen’s perhaps under-the-radar contribution as West Ham United’s free-scoring winger added another to his tally in Wednesday’s 1-0 Premier League win at Fulham.
After a mix-up at the back for Marco Silva’s side – Bernd Leno and Calvin Bassey leaving the ball to each other and neither taking charge – Summerville showed ‘magnificent’ composure to fool Sander Berge before slotting the ball into the Cottagers’ net.
It was a goal which owed much to Crysencio Summerville’s new-found ruthlessness in a West Ham United shirt, but also the off-the-ball tenacity of captain Jarrod Bowen.

As the ball dropped loose just outside the Fulham box, Bowen nipped in, stealing back possession from under Bassey’s nose and flicking it into his teammate’s path.
Crysencio Summerville thanks Jarrod Bowen for West Ham United assist at Fulham
“We had to fight until the end,” Summerville told TNT Sports after a result which saw them draw level on points with 17th-place Nottingham Forest. “This is a difficult place to come to and [Fulham] are in a good flow as well. I’m very pleased to get the three points today.

“It was a good pressing moment from ‘Jazz’. The ball came to me and I needed to keep my composure, and that’s what I did. I’m very glad I could show my composure and complete the action.
“We have to be composed in the final third. We had a couple of chances in the first half. [But] I’m in a good space. I love to play, I’m happy to be back [in form], and I want to show it every week.”

Summerville says ‘the only way is up’ for the Hammers
Jarrod Bowen looked well-placed to end his Premier League goal-drought – Fulham have had problems in the left-back spot all season – but the captain will have to make do with an assist.
Nuno felt West Ham were hard done by last time out against Liverpool – there were a lot of ‘positive’, he said, even in a game his side lost 5-2 – and Summerville was delighted to put those frustrations behind him in West London.
“We took positives from the Liverpool game,” adds the former Leeds winger, who has scored all five of his league goals this season since January 17th. “We lost [at Anfield] but we had lots of positives.
“I’m very, very pleased that we are going in the right direction. The only way is up now.”
