Callum Wilson was not among the starters for West Ham United as they played out a 1-1 draw against Brighton at the AmEx Stadium on Sunday.

Wilson helped set up Jarrod Bowen’s goal after coming off the bench, with some impressive centre forward play and that strike nearly proved to be the winner for the Hammers.

However, Georginio Rutter’s late equaliser saw West Ham United return with just a point from their travels to the south coast.

Callum Wilson claims West Ham were unlucky vs Brighton

Callum Wilson has gone from being a questionable signing, which baffled many, to being one an important player for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

He has been playing regularly due to the lack of quality number nines at the club, but he is still putting in a shift and delivering for the Hammers.

The 33-year-old has started winning over the West Ham fans as well, and in order to keep that relationship going, he sent a message to them on X.

From his personal account, he claimed that his side were unlucky not to get all three points from their trip to the AmEx Stadium.

He has told the Hammers supporters that he will see them at the London Stadium next when they take on Aston Villa on 14 December.

Wilson wrote: “Unlucky not to come away with all three points. See you all next week at home.”

Are West Ham doomed for relegation?

It was important for the Hammers to pick up three points against Brighton and the manner of the draw seems like two points were lost.

This may be the deciding factor in the relegation race, as it often comes down to a few points and even goal difference separating 17th from 18th.

Currently, West Ham sit in 18th place with 13 points and the sides above them in 17th and 16th, Nottingham Forest and Leeds United, both have 15 points under their belt.

Beating Villa is most certainly going to be a challenge for Nuno’s side, but they have shown that they are capable of going toe-to-toe with high-flying sides and giving them a run for their money.
