West Ham United hero Callum Wilson admits his dramatic late goal against Everton let out a bit of frustration.
The striker came off the bench to bag yet another last-minute winner for West Ham United, only a few months after almost leaving the club during the January transfer window.
It was another brilliant moment for the forward, who has scored crucial goals against Burnley, Bournemouth and Tottenham this season too.
DISCUSS: Callum Wilson is NOT a starter for West Ham even despite his late goal vs Everton 👀
At this stage of his career, some may see the 34-year-old as a super-sub more than anything else.
Wilson’s comments after scoring in West Ham’s win, however, suggest he’s after something more.
Wilson hints he wants more game time at West Ham
The former Newcastle United striker was asked about his strike by West Ham United TV.
Interestingly, Wilson appeared to drop a hint. He did, in fact, suggest he had an element of frustration about not playing regularly.
“It was nice to see it go in, let out a little bit of frustration as well,” he said. “You know, as a striker, you want to be playing more and more.”
Who was YOUR MOTM vs Everton and why? 🎉🎉🎉
While Wilson is a genuine match-winner for West Ham, he hasn’t started a game since the 1-0 win over Fulham back in March.
Prior to that, he’d only started nine Premier League games all season. The last time he was given a run out lasting more than 15 minutes, meanwhile, was the defeat at Aston Villa prior to the last international break.

Still, it’s difficult to be too critical of Nuno Espirito Santo here. Pablo Felipe and Valentin Castellanos may not be as convincing in front of goal as Wilson, but they do offer more in the way of energy and industry.
While Wilson could feasibly play more minutes off the bench, actually starting him regularly at this stage of his career is an entirely different proposition.
It’s natural that a player of his stature would want more game time but Nuno’s attacking plan is currently working out at West Ham.
