Pablo Felipe’s brand of football has and will continue to make him a popular figure among the club’s supporters, according to Ally McCoist.
On Monday night, Pablo made a welcome return from a calf injury to have ruled him out for almost a month as West Ham United beat Brentford on penalties in the FA Cup fifth round.
The January signing put in a statement performance upon his return from injury. Pablo, a surprise inclusion from the start, led the line in impressive fashion.
Who was West Ham’s BEST PLAYER against Brentford?! 🤔
While the 22-year-old remains without a goal in the seven games he’s now played for the Hammers since joining from Gil Vicente, McCoist believes his energetic style of play will go down a treat here in east London.
Speaking during TNT Sports’ live coverage, McCoist said (around 20 minutes into the game): “He’s one of these guys that the fans will enjoy watching because he’s all effort.”
Before adding at around the 50th-minute mark: “He could do with a few more goals but the fans will like him because of his style of play.”

Pablo Felipe’s return is a huge boost for West Ham United
West Ham have missed Pablo, who brings with him an awful lot of energy in attacking areas.
Though there remain doubts as to his ability in front of goal, both he and Taty Castellanos have had a profound impact on West Ham’s recent revival.
Ally gets it 😎 Where should Pablo Felipe play for West Ham – as a No.9 or a No.10?
Having him available for the final nine Premier League games of the season is huge for Nuno.
The West Ham head coach has another option from which to choose ahead of the business end of the campaign.
Anyone who watched Pablo’s performance against Brentford would have seen why he’s so popular. A tireless worker capable of doing something of the ordinary, he’s looking very much like a cult-hero.
There may be more prolific strikers around but Pablo’s impact cannot be doubted. West Ham do look like a slightly better team with him in the side, after all.
It will be fascinating to see what role he can play in the battles to come.
