West Ham United were soundly beaten by Liverpool in the Carabao Cup at Anfield tonight.
It was more frustration for West Ham on Merseyside as Liverpool eased through to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
Julen Lopetegui made sweeping changes form the team that lost 3-0 to Chelsea on Saturday, and there were actually some positive to take, especially from the first-half.
However, the end to the game was truly embarrassing for us.
The Spaniard apologised to the Hammers fans after the awful display against Chelsea, and we all expected a big reaction from the players tonight.
However, Liverpool were far to strong for us in the end.
The same old defensive frailties came to light yet again for the Hammers, as Liverpool ran away as 5-1 winners.
And one player really let us down tonight.
West Ham player makes error during Liverpool Carabao Cup clash
The Hammers were bang in this contest right up until the 74th minute of the game, when Mohamed Salah made it 3-1.
In fairness, we were actually still in the game after the Egyptian scored, but only for two more minutes.

That’s when Edson Alvarez decided to hack down Salah, before receiving his marching orders.
It was a disgraceful tackle from the Mexico international – just a braindead move.
Alvarez let down his teammates, his manager and the supporters by making that tackle – it was unacceptable in the extreme and he should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.
The thing is, he was absolutely awful before he was sent off as well. Alvarez’s form is a huge concern as far as I’m concerned.
Edson Alvarez needs to improve
We all know that the 26-year-old is a very good player on his day, but his discipline is becoming a big problem for us now.
Alvarez had received 19 yellow cards in 47 games for the Hammers before tonight’s game – that’s quite simply not good enough.
Some of the tackles he puts in are just plain stupid, reckless in the extreme, and he just seems like he’s asking for trouble a lot of the time.
I would much prefer it if he kept a cooler head, rather than turning into a headless chicken who costs us games.
The Mexican gave the ball away more than he found his teammates tonight as well, and he really does need to improve big time.
Edson Alvarez was absolutely woeful for West Ham against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup clash tonight, and his sending off was unforgivable if you ask me.
