With Declan Rice still out injured and Mark Noble unavailable for selection, the Argentinian ace was utilised in a deeper position by David Moyes at Turf Moor.
The 28-year-old has been a shadow of his former self over the past two years.
In fact, it wouldn’t be an understatement to suggest that last night’s superb performance salvaged his career at the London Stadium.

Manu showed everyone just what he is capable of last night, however.
David Moyes would be been delighted with the 28-year-old’s display.
Manuel Lanzini stands out for West Ham vs Burnley
The South American star dictated the tempo of the game against the Clarets from an unfamiliar deep-lying position.
Rather than looking like a fish out of water, he looked like he had been playing in the deep-lying midfield position throughout his entire career.

The former River Plate ace racked up some mighty impressive numbers against Burley.
Lanzini recorded a 95% pass accuracy from 78 attempted passes. He made 13 ball recoveries, 18 final third passes and had 90 touches. The 28-year-old made two clearances, one tackle and one interception. He also made one key pass (Who Scored).
An all around superb display from Manu.
Let’s hope he maintains those performance levels for West Ham. It really would be great to have our diamond back!
