West Ham United take on Newcastle United in the late kick-off on Saturday.

The Hammers go into the game off the back of a narrow defeat to title hopefuls Manchester City.

Manuel Pellegrini’s side were desperately unlucky not to take a draw home from the Etihad.

Meanwhile Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle are looking for their third consecutive win when the visit the London Stadium.

Hammers have parallels with Newcastle

As well as being the live game, the match has extra significance as West Ham unveil their new stand dedicated to club legend Billy Bonds.

West Ham and Newcastle fans are similar in their undying loyalty to their cult clubs.

That’s despite a distinct lack of success over the last half a century.

A Bonds scheme fans can get behind

The East Londoners have plans to honour Bonds in a ceremony at their new ground before the match.

And the club has sent a warning out to fans ahead of the game.

“We hope you’re looking forward to our home fixture vs Newcastle on Saturday, kick-off at 5.30pm,” West Ham said in a text message to season ticket holders.

Hammers send warning to fans

“We advise you to take to your seat early as Billy Bonds will be joining us pitchside as we name the East Stand in his honour from 5.15pm.”

Getting into the London Stadium in time for kick-off has been an issue for some supporters since the move.

The sheer volume of people coupled with security checks make for lengthy queues.

So fans should heed the club’s warning and leave earlier than normal to be in place to honour a true legend.
