West Ham United take on Brighton today in a fixture that has proved difficult for the Hammers in the Premier League.

Is Haller being mistreated by Moyes or does he simply have to toughen up?

West Ham are firmly ensconced in the top 10 with eyes on Europe while Brighton are in the relegation mix again.

But this fixture is never straightforward for West Ham.

And with a flagging attack of late, David Moyes is searching for answers to rejuvenate his side.

West Ham must heed Merson’s nine-word warning about Brighton

The temptation, after what was deemed a negative approach to the Chelsea game, is to go all out against Brighton.

But Moyes and West Ham may need to heed a warning from Paul Merson.

The pundit has watched a lot of Brighton this season. And he has delivered a nine-word verdict in his Daily Star column that should have West Ham on their guard.

“Brighton are going to give someone a thrashing soon,” Merson told The Daily Star.

West Ham fans will be desperately hoping its not them.

No Glenn Murray but Moyes has set the stage for Welbeck to haunt Hammers

There is no Glenn Murray to torment the Hammers this time around.

But Moyes set the stage to leave himself red-faced after admitting he turned down the chance to sign in-form Danny Welbeck in the summer (Daily Mail).

West Ham go into the game off the back of a harsh 3-0 defeat at Chelsea. That was only West Ham’s second defeat in their last seven Premier League games.

Brighton, though, have only won once in their last 13 games in all competitions.

West Ham and Brighton’s head to head record could not be any tighter.

West Ham have beaten the Seagulls 18 times while Brighton have also beaten the Hammers 18 times over the years.

West Ham yet to beat bogey team Brighton in the Premier League

The other 17 matches between the pair have ended in a draw.

West Ham have not beaten Brighton in the Premier League.

They have drawn the last three and West Ham have lost the other three.

In fact the last time West Ham beat Brighton was on their way to promotion from the Championship, dishing out a 6-0 thrashing at Upton Park.

Merson believes Brighton are capable of serving up that kind of result soon.

Moyes must ensure his side are not the patsies as usual.
