Predicted line-up: David Moyes makes one West Ham change but ponders dropping star for Brentford

David Moyes looks set to make one West Ham change but ponders dropping star for the huge game at Brentford on Sunday.

West Ham go into the game knowing they can seriously consolidate their place in the top six – and go just three points off fourth-placed Spurs – with a win.

That’s after top six rivals Wolves, Man United and Arsenal all lost to hand Moyes’s Hammers a huge incentive.

It will be far from easy for West Ham, though, as Brentford have won three of their last four games including a stunning 4-1 away victory at Chelsea last week.

If the Hammers win they will move up to fifth and do their hopes of European football next season the world of good.

Moyes has vowed to play his strongest available team in every game until the end of the season.

The 10-men Hammers drew 1-1 with Lyon in their Europa League quarter-final first leg on Thursday night.

And they face the crucial second leg in France this coming Thursday.

Moyes will have that in the back of his mind but it is unlikely to affect his team selection too much.

We think Moyes makes one West Ham change but ponders dropping star Said Benrahma for Brentford.

The first and quite possibly only change for West Ham sess Lukasz Fabianski come back in for Alphonse Areola in goal.

But Moyes may also be considering dropping Benrahma against his old club.

Benrahma was taken off at half-time against Lyon as a result of Aaron Cresswell’s red card just before the break.

The Algerian had so many opportunities to make chances against Lyon as he was played in time and again down the left. But his end product, as it has been all too often for West Ham, was lacking.

Benrahma has never really hit the heights his time at Brentford suggested he might be capable of with the Hammers.

And we believe Moyes will be pondering dropping Benrahma in a bid to give Nikola Vlasic some game time.

Moyes suggested before the game that Manuel Lanzini will not be fit for a place in the squad as he recovers from injuries sustained in a recent car crash.

It remains to be seen if that is a bit of kidology from Moyes.

But Lanzini – who was suspended for the Lyon game – will be needed in France on Thursday night.

So it is probably best if he focuses on being ready for that.

Predicted West Ham starting XI to face Brentford:

Fabianski, Fredericks, Dawson, Zouma, Cresswell, Rice, Soucek, Fornals, Benrahma (or Vlasic), Bowen, Antonio.
