We predict David Moyes makes nine West Ham changes for the Euro opener against TSC Backa Topola after a Mohammed Kudus decision.

West Ham kick off their third consecutive – and 12th ever – European campaign when they welcome TSC Backa Topola to the London Stadium on Thursday night.

Hammers fans have loved every minute of their European adventures over the last two years.

West Ham made the semi-finals of the Europa League two seasons ago before going on and winning the Europa Conference League last term.

So hopes are high for another deep run and making it to the knockout stages in the new year once again.

FK TSC Backa Topola may not be a well recognised name. But they are the Serbian league leaders ahead of Champions League outfit Red Star Belgrade. So they cannot be taken lightly.

That being said West Ham – unbeaten in Europe since the semi-final of this competition in May 2022 – should have too much for their visitors as David Moyes looks to start the new campaign as they left last season.

With a huge Premier League clash against Liverpool looming large on Sunday, the Scot is expected to shuffle the pack from the side which started the defeat to Man City at the weekend.

Kudus and Mavropanos to make first starts, all change back five and Ings up top?

Kudus has reportedly wowed Moyes, his staff and new West Ham teammates in training.

One player who isn’t playing is Edson Alvarez as he is suspended.

And Moyes confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Lukasz Fabianski will start in goal.

If Nayef Aguerd is going to be dropped for Liverpool – as is being rumoured – then he could well keep his place for the Europa League Group A opener.

But we think Moyes will change the entire back team and indeed nine of this 11 for the clash with Kudus getting his first West Ham start.

We also think there could be a start for fellow summer arrival Konstantinos Mavropanos.
