The Newcastle boss even shared how he tried to sign Hammers star Lucas Paqueta in the summer transfer window.

Lucas Paqueta will be a key player for West Ham this evening, as will Declan Rice.

And Howe raved about both players during his pre-match press conference yesterday…

Eddie Howe names two West Ham players he really rates

The Toon boss addressed the media yesterday ahead of the Newcastle vs West Ham clash this evening.

And Howe name-checked two West Ham players when asked about David Moyes’s men, as quoted by the Shields Gazette:

“Paqueta gives West Ham something totally different in the middle of the pitch. We’re certainly preparing for a tough game, because him and (Declan) Rice are excellent players.”

Howe is right, Paqueta and Rice are both exceptional footballers.

The thing is, now is the time for both of them to start performing well together as a pair, and to really push the Hammers up the Premier League table.

Rice has been his usual consistent self this season but I expect a lot more from Paqueta.

Eddie Howe will clearly have a plan in place to deal with both West Ham players this evening. That’s what happens when you establish yourself as a top player.

The England and Brazil internationals certainly have the quality to control the game against the Magpies.

Let’s just hope that Paqueta and Rice guide us to victory at St James’ Park.
