Declan Rice was missing from the West Ham training session today, in a potentially huge blow ahead of the Wolves clash tomorrow.

David Moyes didn’t even mentioned Rice during his pre-match press conference this afternoon, after fears that the 23-year-old may have injured his knee over-stretching in a challenge late on against Germany.

That seemed like a good thing, because if there was a problem with Rice, Moyes would have surely mentioned something about it.

West Ham desperately need all three points tomorrow evening against Wolves.

The Hammers are currently marooned inside the bottom three in the Premier League table, having taken just four points from our opening seven games.

The pressure is really cranking up on Moyes with recent reports suggesting that the West Ham board are eyeing up a move for Mauricio Pochettino as his potential replacement.

A defeat against Wolves tomorrow will increase that pressure even further still. And it seems as though the Hammers fans may have a real reason for concern ahead of the game…

Now, Rice may have just been rested of course.

The thing is, even if that is the case, it’s still not great news.

A player missing a training session the day before the game usually implies that he has some kind of problem.

And heading into the Wolves clash without Rice really would be a disaster for West Ham.

Nothing less than a win will do against Wolves.

A defeat or even a draw would really put us behind the eight ball, with plenty of tough games coming thick and fast this month.

Declan Rice missing the West Ham training session today ahead of the Wolves game really is a big concern. Let’s hope that he’s fit to start tomorrow.
