Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard spoke about West Ham manager David Moyes and his staff in glowing terms when speaking to reporters today.

Moyes has worked wonders since taking over at West Ham for the second time back in December 2019.
The Scot has transformed us from relegation candidates into genuine top-four contenders in an incredibly short period of time.

Steven Gerrard has done an equally good job since being handed the reigns at Villa Park but we are a lot further on in our development than Aston Villa are.
The Villans are in really good form. They’ve won their last three Premier League games in a row, scoring nine and conceding none in the process.
West Ham, meanwhile, have been far from our best. Tomorrow will be a really tough game but Gerrard will know that it will be difficult for his team as well.
Steven Gerrard speaks ahead of West Ham vs Aston Villa
One thing’s for sure, the Hammers players will have to be on top form tomorrow if we are to have any chance of beating Villa.
We do have a great record against them though. Moyes’s men have won their last three encounters with the West Midlands outfit.
And Gerrard highlighted how his team are heading into tomorrow’s game with great admiration for West Ham, as quoted by Aston Villa’s official website:

“From what I hear from the outside, his coaching staff all do a great job of supporting him and they’re all doing a great job for West Ham. They’re competing in Europe, which is a long-term goal for ourselves. We need to admire what they’re doing and respect what they’re doing, but it’s a fantastic opportunity for us to show where we’re at, take on the challenge and go toe-to-toe with a good team.”
Whatever happens tomorrow, it should be a cracking contest.
Moyes and the players might just have one eye on the Europa League clash with Sevilla on Thursday night but tomorrow’s game is so important.
West Ham cannot afford to be thinking about anything other than beating Aston Villa. The race for the top four is still very much on.
Villa will be a huge test for us tomorrow. Let’s just hope that the boys are up to the task.
