With no match until Hull Away next Monday, I saw the international break as a time to sit back and enjoy some stress-free football. Current West Ham players and internationals such as Cheikou Kouyate, Winston Reid and Enner Valencia all played for their respected countries.
Winston Reid captained his side to a devastating 3-1 loss to Uzbekistan in a key international match. Meanwhile, Cheikou Kouyate played an encouraging 87 minutes before being substituted in a thoroughly good performance by Senegal as they beat Egypt by 2 goals to nil. Lastly, Enner Valencia started against Bolivia and capped off a fine performance with a well taken finish as his country won 4-0. Valencia latched onto a through ball, took a touch to beat the goalkeeper and scored in an open net – well taken indeed, Mr Valencia!
Youngsters such as Kieran Sadlier and Josh Cullen played for the Republic of Ireland at different levels and both did their country proud.
Back to Premier League football very soon now and all of our first-team players are 100% fit apart from target man Andy Carroll who is out with a long-term injury as you all know. The likes of Morrison, Song, Valencia and Jenkinson will be raring for a start but whatever side Sam Allardyce puts out sure will be a strong team.
Lets hope that we pick up the 3 points at the KC Stadium and march on up the target after 3 losses in 4 matches in all competitions so far.
Come on you irons.
