Scotland and West Ham winger Robert Snodgrass has announced his international retirement.

After making his debut in 2011 and winning 28 caps, Snodgrass has hung up his boots. His last game for Scotland was the 4-0 loss against Russia last week as he had to withdraw before the San Marino victory.

Snodgrass said (via whufc.com): “It’s now the right time for me to step aside, though, and retire from international duty and let the boys and younger players take my place and hopefully push the squad forward.

I want to especially thank the Tartan Army for the special support you’ve showed me over the years. I will never forget this.

After Snodgrass’ announcement, Scotland FA produced a video reel of his best moments. It includes a lot of off-the-field jokes with team-mates showing his popularity in the camp. But it also shows some of his goals.

Snodgrass struck seven goals for the Tartan Army, including a hat-trick against Malta. But his time as an international player is now over. Here are some tweets from Scotland fans reacting to this decision.
