News coming out of England training camp should concern West Ham fans

West Ham United captain Declan Rice has missed England training due to concerns over his recent workload.

That’s according to a report from the The Daily Mail who claim that the West Ham midfielder was left out of England training as a precaution.

The 23-year-old Hammers star has established himself as a vitally important player for both club and country over the past couple of years.

The question is, will the Hammers midfielder suffer from burnout?

Dec plays week in, week out for West Ham.

In fact, he has played 134 games for West Ham since the start of the 2019/20 season. In seven Premier League games this season, he has played every single minute (Transfermarkt).

And it seems as though Rice may be feeling slightly jaded already this term…

Declan Rice left out of England training on Tuesday

The 23-year-old West Ham star has been rested from today’s training session by Gareth Southgate.

We actually think that’s quite concerning.

Whenever West Ham play a match with any kind of importance, Rice is the first name on David Moyes’s team-sheet.

Moyes signed Flynn Downes in the summer but the 23-year-old is nowhere near ready to fill in for Rice in the Premier League.

The fact that Dec is needed in every single game, and more importantly for the entire 90 minutes, is something that highlights a huge flaw in our squad.

We’re just seven Premier League games into the season and Rice is obviously already feeling the heat physically.

Gareth Southgate giving him a pass from England training today proves that. And it’s something that Moyes needs to think long and hard about, with so many games coming thick and fast this season.
