West Ham midfielder Jack Wilshere is set to miss the remainder of the season after suffering yet another injury setback, according to The Sun.
Wilshere has scarcely featured for West Ham this season due to various ankle problems and he has a fresh concern.
The 27-year-old was expected to return soon and went back to light training but he has felt pain in his ankle joint.
Although nothing is confirmed yet, this report expects the physio to tell Wilshere that he will not play again this season.
Frustrating campaign for Jack Wilshere
It has been a difficult start to life in East London for boyhood fan Wilshere, who completed a free transfer from Arsenal in the summer.
The England international started the first four games of the season for West Ham, although they all ended in defeat. But he was then ruled out for three months with an ankle injury picked up in training.
Wilshere returned to action in early December, coming on as a late substitute and picking up an assist against Newcastle United. But he never featured again after damaging his other ankle in training later that week.
Initially, Wilshere was expected to shake off that setback in a matter of weeks and return to action. However, the ex-Arsenal man is still sidelined and could now be facing an injury lay-off which rules him out until next season.
