West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini revealed that he rested Michail Antonio against Wolverhampton Wanderers, Football London reports.

Wolves beat West Ham 2-0 at Molineux and the away side were toothless without their key attacker. There was no pace, no power and no spirit going forward, mainly because Antonio was missing.

Antonio has only just returned from injury but he made an instant impact against Tottenham Hotspur. It was a one-man team as Antonio brought West Ham from 3-0 down back to 3-2.

Then, he started as a striker in the 1-0 win over Chelsea. His goal was chalked off but he caused problems for the Blues’ defence all match. He was taken off in the second half with many believing it was precautionary.

While there was talk of a groin strain, Pellegrini has claimed it was just a precaution. With Antonio coming back from a long-term injury, Pellegrini decided it would be wise to rest the 29-year-old.

This post-match comment was met with anger by some frustrated Hammers supporters. Here are some of the best tweets.
