Injury-prone midfielder Jack Wilshere missed last night’s win over Cardiff City with another injury knock, Manuel Pellegrini has confirmed.

Speaking after the game (reported via Sky Sports), Pellegrini revealed that Wilshere has a fresh ankle injury.

Wilshere joined West Ham from Arsenal in the summer on a free transfer but has only managed five appearances.

The 26-year-old played the first four games of the campaign for the Hammers but an ankle injury ruled him out for three months.

Last weekend, against Newcastle United, Wilshere made his return from injury, coming off the substitutes’ bench.

And he picked up an assist when he fed Felipe Anderson, who shrugged off the Newcastle defender and grabbed West Ham’s third.

But there was no place on the bench for Wilshere in yesterday’s 3-1 win over Cardiff at The London Stadium.

And after the game, Pellegrini said: “Jack has a small pain in his ankle, not the one he injured before.”

The ex-England international’s entire career has been plagued by injuries and this is the latest setback.

Below are some tweets from West Ham fans, who are growing frustrated with the midfielder’s injury record so far.
