Michail Antonio’s availability for West Ham United’s trip to Sheffield United this Sunday is not cut and dried.
That’s according to reliable Hammers insider ExWHUemployee.
Antonio has missed West Ham’s last two games, a defeat to Liverpool and the last gasp win over Fulham.
David Moyes has missed his star striker, who has been on fire as an out-and-out forward since football returned after the first lockdown.
West Ham have missed the man who makes them tick
Indeed it is Antonio’s pace, power and workrate which make West Ham tick in the new wingback formation which has served them so well this season.
In Antonio’s absence Sebastien Haller has struggled to shine.
Reports have abound for the last couple of weeks that Antonio will be back in contention – at least for a place on the bench – for West Ham’s clash with the Blades.
But now ExWHUemployee has revealed that his return is not clear cut as Antonio faces a fitness test on Friday before West Ham travel north.
Insider reveals Antonio faces late fitness test before decision is made over his place in squad
“Obviously we have a game against Sheffield United at the weekend,” ExWHUemployee said on The West Ham Way podcast, November 18th.
“Antonio is going to face a fitness test on Friday to see whether he should be available for the Sheffield United game.
“I believe that the club think he’ll be on the bench. But they just want further confirmation through that test.”
In other injury news, Ex confirmed Angelo Ogbonna will be available.
So too will Arthur Masuaku, who is guarding against aggravating a knee injury.
Andriy Yarmolenko will miss the game after testing positive for Covid-19 while on international duty with Ukraine.
Another chance for Haller to shine
The news from Ex means another chance for Haller to prove his worth up front for West Ham.
