There is yet more misery for West Ham as Lucas Paqueta lasts just 10 mins before shoulder injury forces him off.

The Brazilian was forced off after falling on his shoulder early on in West Ham’s derby against Chelsea.

Not that you would have known it was a derby from the way West Ham played for much of the first half.

A pathetic, negative performance in the opening 20 minutes saw West Ham barely lay a glove on Chelsea who scored three times in 22 minutes with VAR ruling out two of them.

And to make matters worse West Ham lost Paqueta early on with a worrying looking knock.

West Ham’s £51m signing was kept out for several weeks with a collarbone injury before the World Cup break.

And there is more misery for West Ham as Paqueta lasts just 10 mins before a shoulder injury forces him off against Chelsea.

It is the latest West Ham injury to add to a growing list.

Kurt Zouma, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet and Alphonse Areola are all out with no set return dates.

Now Paqueta almost certainly faces a spell on the sidelines just when he looked to be finding his feet at West Ham.

After the now obligatory awful start, the Hammers have grown into the game and levelled up Joao Felix’s opener to 1-1 thanks to former Chelsea man Emerson stealing in to tap home at the far post.

We can only hope Paqueta’s injury is not as bad as it looked. What did bode well was that he was moving the shoulder quite freely.

But when he had to use his arm and put strength through it to hold off an opponent he instantly pulled up.

Chelsea look extremely vulnerable when put under pressure as West Ham finally woke from their slumber halfway through the first half.

Let’s hope the goal can lift spirits and lead to a positive result to take the edge off the Paqueta blow.
