Jack Wilshere made his comeback from injury in West Ham’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City at The London Stadium yesterday.
West Ham were unfortunate to not pick up three points but Wilshere’s return was one positive to emerge from the game.
The 27-year-old has had a frustrating debut campaign in East London after joining on a free transfer from Arsenal last summer.
Injury-prone Jack Wilshere
After starting the first four matches, Wilshere picked up an ankle knock which ruled him out for a while.
Three months later, the England midfielder returned with a short cameo against Newcastle United and picked up an assist. But then he suffered another ankle injury.
This kept Wilshere out from early December and over four-and-a-half months later, he is finally back on the pitch.
The left-footed playmaker had a six-minute run-out as he continues to return to full fitness after two lengthy spells out injured.
After the game, Wilshere tweeted: “Another step in the right direction”. It has been a difficult season for him after injuries eventually ended his Arsenal career.
Here are some tweets from West Ham fans responding to Wilshere’s tweet.
