West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini could be out of action for two months, reliable insider EXWHUEmployee has confirmed.
Lanzini was stretchered off as West Ham were embarrassed by Burnley on Saturday afternoon. Burnley beat the struggling Hammers by three goals to nil and Lanzini’s injury just makes things worse.
EXWHUEmployee expressed concern about Lanzini and skipper Mark Noble on Twitter after the game. Later, he returned with an update and told fans that the Argentine midfielder has a suspected broken collarbone.
The timeframe for his recovery is two months. This will rule him out until 2020. With Lanzini out, West Ham need to find another midfield playmaker – even if he is out of form.
Lanzini: Out of form but has that special spark
Lanzini has struggled this season and attracted widespread criticism from the West Ham fanbase. But he is still the type of player who could spark West Ham into life.
The 26-year-old has that creative midfield ability and can make things happen. Once his confidence is back, he is the type of player who could lift West Ham away from the relegation zone.
But it looks like West Ham will be without him until January at the earliest. Pablo Fornals needs to improve considerably in that time – otherwise, we might be in trouble.
