The 27-year-old missed the Hammers’ win over Leeds on Friday night after undergoing knee surgery to try and correct a long-term problem.

Arthur Masuaku has been very important for David Moyes this season. And his rise to prominence has been vital to our ability to play a 5-2-3 or 3-4-3 system.

It has been quite the turnaround for the Democratic Republic of Congo internatonional.

The 27-year-old joined West Ham from Olympiacos in the summer of 2016 for around £6 million (Sky Sports).

Arthur looks like a different player

It wasn’t until the start of this season, however, before he started to show the Hammers fans what he is truly capable of.

He is now being played in his correct position. So that obviously helps!

West Ham fans reaction to Masuaku posting a picture of him heading into surgery was an indicator of just how important he has become to the team.

David Moyes switched to four at the back away at Leeds. And in all fairness to him and the players, it worked.

The Scot will probably set up in the same way for Wednesday night’s clash with Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.

The good thing is that West Ham seem to have a plan B now. We simply didn’t have last season. And it cost us dearly on numerous occasions.

Hopefully Arthur Masuaku is back and available as soon as possible so that we can deploy five at the back as and when we need to.

Claret and Hugh reckons the 27-year-old may be back on January 2nd for our trip to Everton.

And that is very good news. Four weeks out of action after knee surgery would be a massive result for Arthur.
