There was once a time when West Ham would be desperate for Andy Carroll to return from injury.

Largely during the Sam Allardyce era, the Geordie was the difference between a blunt and potent Hammers attack. Even now, fully fit, he is among the best in the league in terms of target men.

Unfortunately, that caveat ‘fully fit’ has just not been the case for long enough for West Ham to rely on him any more.

Slaven Bilic, David Moyes and Manuel Pellegrini have been unable to build around him. The Chilean has now constructed a style of play and frontline that Carroll has no part of.

That means that the latest injury update on Carroll’s fitness is not the big news it would once have been. The Mirror report the striker could return within just two weeks; after the forthcoming international break.

But the fans are not impressed. They have clearly lost patience with his shocking injury record and that is reflected in the reaction to the update…
